Concrete Polishing
The advantages of a polished floor...
Polished concrete can be created in a variety of ways, from the least expensive "grind and seal" method to honed concrete, which uses a penetrating sealer to create a reflective surface. Mechanically polished concrete is the type usually used in commercial projects, as it is long-lasting and more durable under heavy foot traffic. It is created by applying a chemical hardener that densifies the porous concrete, and then grinding it to the desired gloss and smoothness. Concrete floor polishing is the best way to take an old, dull concrete floor to a high-lustre finish. Hard Grind can turn the surface of a concrete floor into a lustre finish or a slip resistant surface, adding style and glamour to the premises. One of the more obvious reasons to have polished concrete flooring is because of the concrete’s ability to withstand the test of time. Not just a long-lasting material for flooring, concrete is the hardest, most substantial flooring there is.
The difference in grinding and polishing...
When grinding a concrete floor the desired aggregate exposure is treted with an application of a clear resin top coat. This is often refered to a grind-and-seal application that is commonly used in warehouses and garages where a mirror finish in not suitable. With a diamond polished concrete process you are taking the floor to the next level whereby the concrete is treated chemically reacting within the concrete to make the surface harder, stronger and far more resistant to abrasion. Matt, satin or high gloss levels are achieved by diamond polishing the treated surface. This gives you that magical lustre finish that is often seen in hotels and retail centres. One of the more conventional types of flooring, concrete polishing does not require regular deep cleaning but rather a simple occasional mop. This is an attractive idea and makes it desirable for restaurants, offices, showrooms, retail spaces, and more.
Process

Your options for polished concrete are the level of aggregate you would like to expose through initial grinding. A light, medium or full grind will decide how much grinding will need to be done.

After the grind is completed, the level of gloss is applied as desired. Concrete floor polishing delivers a shine and gloss to a dated surface, brings it back to life and injects years of vitality into its existence.

Polished concrete is concrete that has been hardened with a chemical densifier and ground with progressively finer diamond tooling.

What is left is a very strong stain repellent surface that feels good under foot and looks aesthetically beautiful.
